ARBUTUS SILHOUETTE Common only to the Pacific Northwest, the Arbuts is an easily recognized tree with it's red and yellow skin-like bark and is most often found in sight of the ocean. It has waxy green leaves and is the only deciduous evergreen tree in Canada. A
faint glimpse of Mount Baker can be seen in the background which too is
a recognizable element in these parts. I often suggest a human presence
in my work by including a boat or perhaps a small cabin in the
painting. This time I wanted the piece to be totally pristine.
