Celtic Passion violin painting Barry Tate
CELTIC PASSION
I knew the title of this piece before I began to paint it. I choose a blue orange color scheme as it is a warm "passionate" range of hues.
I then set up a life still in the bathroom of our house as we have lots of orange red cedar on the walls which made a perfect backdrop. The violin is my wife's instrument. I hung an empty picture frame on the wall because I wanted to see just where the candle light would reflect on it, then painted a scene of the Irish moorlands to give it the "celtic connection". I signed this painting-within-a-painting, so there are actually 2 paintings in this piece!
I downloaded a hammered dulcimer from the internet and made a model of it using a large chunk of wood, nails and string because again, I wanted to see where the light would land.
I was going to "fake" the sheet music but decided the person who buys the piece might actually be able to read it. The sheet music is actually from the Beatles "Yesterday".

The print when framed looks amazing and gives a real down home feel to a room. I once  put one in an old antique frame that I got from a second hand shop for just a few dollars. It looked like an original Rembrant!

GICLÉE PRINT
Giclée prints are the best type of reproductions available today.
They are supplied with a double acid free mat and foam backing board. All you need is a common 16x20" frame.

Mat options are:
silver gray with dark blue inner mat - nice traditional look that fits well.  A mid to dark colored frame looks best
dark blue on dark blue -  dramatic and bold look, very powerful. Best with a light colored frame like silver etc.
white on white - traditional gallery choice, classy and elegant.  Goes with all decors. Best with a mid to medium dark frame.
