FOREST LIGHT
One of my favorite
subjects to paint is a broad leaf forest with the interplay of dancing
lights. The best light for most paintings and photographs is usually in
the early morning or evening as the long shadows tend to enhance the 3
D of most outdoor scenes. But in the forest, high noon is more often
the case. The sun has a chance of shinning through the canopy and with
just a little breeze, wonderful patterns of shifting light and colors
are sure to happen.
It's a very magical time and it is easy to imagine how so many fairy
tales begin in a place like this. I often "push" the colors and
patterns to add to the feeling. With Forest Light, the main light
source is coming from within which I think adds even more mystery and
magic to the painting! What's causing the light? Could it be from a
gathering of forest angels or leprechauns?
